Last week, seven of our young cadets travelled down to Eden Armoury in Bishop Auckland to take part in the annual Reserve Forces and Cadet Association shooting competition.
It was Bedlington Combined Cadet Force's first year in attendance at the competition where we fielded a talented (but still developing) team. The cadets faced teams from other CCF schools, Durham and Cleveland Army Cadets and a team from the Royal Air Force Cadets competing in air rifle shoot (for the Summers Cup) and the .22 Cadet Small Bore Target Rifle shoot (for the Jarvis Cup).
The standard of our cadets' shooting was good and were quietly confident that a runner up slot might be achieved. The awards ceremony arrived and we were delighted when it was announced that we had won both the Summers Cup and Jarvis Cup! We also won best Air rifle shot through Cadet Sergeant Bennet and best 0.22 shot which was taken by Cadet Corporal Kian O'Brien. Cadet Lance Corporal Tindale was named the best 0.22 shot runner up.
The cadet staff are extremely proud of everything our young cadets have achieved which is down to the cadets' hard work and their fantastic team ethic.
Well done everyone!
